Oh! Another Year
Well, here we are once again at the beginning of a brand new year. For some people this is a time to rejoice but, for some others it seems to be a terribly depressing reminder of a miserable existence.
If we are or know someone who believes themselves to be depressed, then we must look to the scriptures for Godly advice. Looking to our Heavenly father’s word we can’t help but be reminded that he takes care of his people. 1 Samuel 12:22 gives the hope in word that God will not forsake his people. Even our Lord Jesus Christ says he will never leave us nor forsake us, but will be with us even until the end of the world. (Matthew 28:20)
When we desire to be of assistance to others who seem or feel weak, we should always remember that the strong in spirit are to bear the infirmity of the weak. We can’t just sit on the sidelines and dismiss others who think themselves depressed or even down. We have not always been so close to Jesus ourselves. In fact the scriptures tell us not to think more highly of ourselves than we ought to. Remember that in times past such as were we.
Since we are so grateful that our God has saved us then we need to remember we were blessed to be saved to be a blessing to others. Jesus says that he came for the lost sheep, even for the weak. The word says “he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5)
I am so glad our God is a God of second chances. So, if you are reading this know that he will not only take good care of you but, he will give you as many chances that you need. Give yourself back to the God of your salvation, it is not too late.
As we begin again, instead of repeating last year with last year’s mistakes, let’s give God an opportunity to straighten out our lives. I always believe that since God made me then he is the only one qualified that can fix me.
Now as you make this the best year you’ve ever had, stay in or get in Church (the fellowship of the saints) as you get closer to Christ.
Happy New Year
