STO Youth "Stop The Violence" Outdoor Fun Fest a Huge Success

On September 4, 2016, the St. Titus One Youth Anti-Violence and Mentoring Program held a "Stop the Violence"  Outdoor  Fun Fest.  Youth from the West Pullman Community and the Chicagoland area shared in a day of fun, fellowship, entertainment and education focused on the theme "Stop the Violence".

A special highlight of the day was an Artistic Expression Competition themed "Creating Winning Circles: Where Mentoring Meets the Arts".  Youth used their talents to create poems, raps, songs, skits and art drawings aroung the theme "Stop the Violence" and they shared them during the competition on September 4th.

Entertainment was provided by the Foundations School Dance Troop, The Chicago Bucket Boys, the St. Titus One Intermediate & Adult Dance Ministries and the St. Titus One Puppet Ministry.  A special guest appearance was made by DJ Mike P  who the kids enjoy.

Each of the children received free school supplies and book bags; Free refreshments were on hand, a bouncy house and basketball hoops to add to the fun.

The 1st Place winner of the Competition - Demetria Reed received a $100 Cash Prize!  2nd Place winner was KeShaun Johnson and 3rd Place Winner was Marlon Jones, II.

"We are excited to give our youth an opportunty to showcase their talent, in a fun-filled atmosphere." Geri Jones, Executive Director, said recently.   The message of the day was "Stop the Violence" and this message will continue as participants left the event with T-shirts, buttons and posters featuring the "Stop the Violence" message.
